The American Optometric Association recommends eye examinations at ages 1, 3, & 5. Children do not know how well they are supposed to see, so only a professional examination can rule out visual difficulties. It is particularly important that a child have a complete evaluation in the summer prior to Kindergarten.

Part of your comprehensive eye exam includes checking for the development of cataracts. If during the exam we find that you have developed cataracts, rest assured that our staff will take the time to schedule the cataract evaluation. Once you have had the evaluation, the surgeons office will call us to schedule your Cataract Co-management visit with us. Although no one wants to have surgery, at Drs. People at high risk include those who are over the age of 40, diabetic, near-sighted, African-American, or who have a family history of glaucoma
To detect glaucoma, one of our doctors will test your visual acuity and field, as well as the pressure in your eye. Once diagnosed, glaucoma can be controlled. Treatments to lower pressure in the eye include non-surgical methods such as prescription eye drops and medications, laser therapy. There are also surgical treatments available. At Drs.
